In a plan that’s been tossed around for a couple of years, Elk Grove is completely a strategy to bring in 20,000 new jobs to the south eastern part of the city on  about 1,200 acres of land north of Kammerer Road.

“We hope to have the final plan ready to release in a week and a half,” planning director Taro Echiburu said.

The hope is to entice businesses with the large acreage, more than what has been offered to potential employers in the past.

Elk Grove has been known to have  a reputation of a commuter city, nearly 150,000 people live there but, too many, as far as the city is concerned leave town to work.

Echiburu adds there is still room within the proposed village to include  a Major League Soccer Stadium if the city is awarded a franchise as it hopes.
