ELK GROVE-

Five people are in custody after a machete attack in Elk Grove on Wednesday night.

Elk Grove police officers are investigating the attack that left two brothers injured outside a home on Coral Creek Way near Amber Creek Drive.

Officers responded and set up a perimeter near Big Horn Boulevard and Amber Creek Drive after the suspects fled on foot. The Sacramento Sheriff's Department helicopter team assisted in the search.

Officers took four men and one woman into custody at a nearby home in connection with the slashing.

One of the victims was stabbed in the chest and had cuts to both of his arms, according to a witness. The other victim had his fingers severed.

One witness said the altercation was over $10.
