SOUTH SACRAMENTO-

A South Sacramento couple woke to an explosion in their kitchen early Tuesday morning.

The fire that followed burned several areas of the home, and blew the front door off the hinges. A firefighter suffered minor burns while fighting the blaze.

FOX40’s Sabrina Rodriguez was living in the home; she and her boyfriend made it out safely. She says her dog and cat have not been found yet.

“We had multiple calls, that it was a well-involved home. And it was true when we got here, most of the house was going well, and throughout the home into the kitchen. We also had reports of an explosion,” Sac City Fire Battalion Chief Chris Ortiz said.

Rodriguez says she remembers her alarm going off, she hit snooze, then heard the explosion coming from the kitchen.
