FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting at a gas station.

The incident happened just before midnight Monday at an ARCO gas station on North Texas Street and Alaska Avenue.

Officers responded to the area for a call regarding fighting and shooting. When they arrived, they found two gunshot victims.

“I’ve been here almost 17 years and I’ve seen some things go on but I’ve never … This is ugly,” said neighbor Marsha Lee.

A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

A third person, identified as 22-year-old Souljah Corbin, turned up in an emergency room with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening.

Police determined Corbin was involved in the shooting at the gas station. He was arrested and booked on murder and attempted murder charges.

Police investigated well into the morning collecting evidence from around the gas station. One detective said a silver Mustang was involved in the shooting but did not clarify how.

At this time, the shooting motive is not known but investigators do not believe it was random.
