In mid April, a Stockton foster father was arrested for felony child abuse. After the child passed away in May, his charges have been changed to child abuse resulting in death.

On March 30th, a 10-month-old girl was flown from a Stockton hospital to Oakland Children’s Hospital due to severe injuries. The child was in a coma and not expected to survive, and doctors determined it was due to physical abuse.

Family Crimes Detectives learned the crime took place on E. Cleveland Street, off of North El Dorado Street. Their suspect was the girl’s foster father.

The Belmont Police Department found the foster father and arrested him on April 17th on a $1,150,000 arrest warrant. The foster father, Paul Teldeschi, 37, was brought back to Stockton and booked into the county jail.

The girl died on May 9th, and detectives waited for the autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. On Wednesday, investigators released the cause of death was indeed homicide.

Teldeschi is still in jail and has been since his initial arrest in April.
