SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) — The Sacramento Police Department launched an investigation following a fatal hit-and-run crash in South Sacramento.
Just after 5:30 a.m., police say a man was walking in the middle of the eastbound lanes of Fruitridge Road when he was hit by a car near Wallace Avenue.
Emergency responders found the pedestrian in the road and later pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release his identity once his family has been contacted.
Detectives are trying to find information about the driver who left the crash. Witnesses should call the Sacramento Police Department dispatch center at 916-264-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP (4357).
