Sitting in their Delhi home, Lionilda and Jose Parreira are struggling to understand why their beloved granddaughter, 16-year-old Samantha is dead.
Samantha Parreira, a student at Golden Valley High School in Merced was at a party near Atwater Saturday night when one gang opened fire on another. Two men were pronounced dead at the party. Samantha was caught in the crossfire and rushed to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
“When we went to Modesto, she was on the machines, with life support,” Samantha’s great-uncle Vital Marcelino told FOX40.
Even after six hours of surgery, Samantha’s injuries were too severe.
The Parreira’s say Samantha struggled after the death of her father five years ago from a stroke, but that she was a good girl who loved to dance, draw and go to mass with them.
