SACRAMENTO–
The activist group Anonymous is throwing its support behind the homeless of Sacramento.
In a video posted Thursday, the group asks for a 60-day “good faith” period for the city and homeless activists to come to an agreement over a controversial camping ordinance.
For weeks, the city’s homeless and supporters have been camping in front of City Hall to protest Sacramento’s no-camping ordinance.
The city says there is enough room in their sponsored shelters, but advocates disagree, saying hundreds are still forced to sleep on the streets.
Several have been arrested since the protests began.
“Should you decide our request is untenable or refuse to answer it, we will bring the formidable talent of Anonymous to your city,” the cloaked figure in the video says.
City and police officials say they are monitoring security systems.
