MODESTO -- Investigators are pleading with the public for help on a two-month-old homicide case involving a 13-year-old girl.

A cement cross adorned with blue stones, a permanent reminder of the 13-year-old girl who was gunned down on May 30.

Witness said they heard multiple gunshots early that morning. Investigators told FOX40, Brisa Covarrubias was shot and died at a hospital. Her 15-year-old brother was wounded, all in front of their home on Pelton Avenue in Modesto.

“We are still looking for any individuals that may be involved,” said Heather Graves with the Modesto Police Department.

While months have passed, Modesto police investigators have not released any leads, no suspect information, no motive and they’re still asking for witnesses to come forward.

“Whether it be the suspect information or may have been around during the time of the shooting,” Graves said.

Covarrubias would have been 14 this summer, she had just finished the eighth-grade, and according to friends, had dreams of becoming a veterinarian before she was gunned down.

“If you have any information, please, we ask that you come forward and hopefully we can help identify a suspect involved in this crime,” Graves said.

If you have any information, please contact crime stoppers or Detective Ra Pouv at (209)572-9826.
