Firefighters battling a wildfire burning in the terrain northeast of Auburn had to wait an hour or more for power to be shut off first.

After calls of a fire burning near Foresthill, fire crews responded to find power lines down in the fire area.

Helicopters fought the fire from above, but ground crews had to wait more than an hour for the power to be cut off to the downed power lines.

They were able to keep the fire from getting into the thicker areas of the forest, and it was only a few acres big. They also kept the flames from reaching nearby homes.

Wednesday’s fire is in a similar area as the Robbers Fire from July 2012. The Robbers Fire burned more than 2,600 acres, threatening more than 150 homes.
