In what has become an annual tradition for the Lodi Police Department and its association, 50 Christmas trees were given away Wednesday for those who can't afford to purchase their own.
The holiday tradition almost didn't happen this year, because the lot the department normally gets the trees from was sold out. However, Matt Latino made sure the event wouldn't be canceled and traveled to Galt or a local Boy Scout troop still had some.
"I was watching FOX40 and I saw all of this was happening and my husband said, 'Go down there and get one,'"a woman who identified herself only as Christine, who arrive 15 minutes before the opening of the 7 a.m. time for pick up, told FOX40. "It's a Christmas miracle, Christmas just isn't the same without a tree."
