A dog found wandering the streets of Sacramento will soon be reunited with its owner in Los Angeles.

An animal control officer picked up the cute, friendly Pomeranian near 65th Street and 21st Avenue on Monday, and brought him into the Sacramento city shelter.

The staff at the shelter scanned him for a microchip, and discovered that his owner lived in Los Angeles.  They contacted her, and she was ecstatic to learn that her little friend was safe and would be returned.  She said he went missing in August.  How he got to Sacramento is a mystery.

“He’s not talking,” joked Gina Knepp, manager at Sacramento City Animal Care Services.  “I’ve asked him repeatedly how he got here, but we are going to get him back home to Los Angeles.”

An organization called Wings of Rescue will fly the dog down to L.A. on Sunday, which is also the owner’s birthday.

And his name happens to be Lucky.  Of course.
