CAMERON PARK -- After a tense, 20-hour standoff with sheriff's deputies, 37-year-old Dylan Robert Johnson was taken into custody.
According to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to an apartment on La Canada Drive shortly after 6 a.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic disturbance. Investigators say the caller told the dispatcher that an armed man was holding a woman and her baby against their will.
When deputies responded, the woman and baby were able to leave the apartment, but investigators say Johnson "indicated he was heavily armed."
During the standoff, deputies say Johnson began firing "indiscriminately" inside the apartment.
As the situation continued into Friday morning, deputies say Johnson opened the front door and began firing at SWAT officers. One officer returned fire, deputies say, and hit Johnson in the leg.
Johnson was then taken to a hospital for treatment before he could be booked into jail.
