FOX40 has learned the Sacramento arrest warrant officers were serving in Washington was for real estate fraud.

The warrant was initially from 2004 for both a man and woman who were forging names on the sale of a property, they were pretending to be co-owners of a property that was for sale.

The search had gone cold, but recently the district attorney’s office learned the pair may be in Washington State and reached out to officials. The woman was identified Tuesday and arrested. The man showed a fake Washington ID and was initially let go.

Officers followed up with him Wednesday, and tried to serve the arrest warrant, that is when the man shot an officer and barricaded himself inside the home.

The standoff ended Thursday morning when officers shot and killed the man after he came to the door, armed.

The district attorney’s office would not identify the names of the suspects because they are still waiting for word from Hoquiam, Washington officials that the man they had in a standoff and who later died is the same man wanted for arrest.
