SACRAMENTO —

A Southwest Airlines flight headed to Denver from the Sacramento International Airport was diverted to Oakland after it began to experience mechanical issues during the flight, officials said.

Flight No. 1665 was scheduled to leave Sacramento for Denver at 2:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon, but didn’t depart until 2:44 p.m. Southwest Airlines Officials said that the flight circled over Yuba City for over an hour before being diverted to Oakland.

The new arrival time into Denver has not been posted, but is expected to be shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday night.
