It was a moment no one wanted to believe.
As search crews pulled a red Ford Mustang belonging to 55-year-old Susan Green from the San Joaquin River in the small town of Isleton, they also found Green’s body.
“I could not watch most of it, just seeing her car pull up,” said friend Judy Vandeventer.
“It is tough, but on the positive side at least the family has closure,” said friend Skip Vandeventer.
Green’s children posted signs after she disappeared. She was last seen leaving the Happy Harbor Bar August 11, just 500 yards from where her vehicle was found.
“She was fun. She was happy go lucky always smiling. She was a real sweet lady,” said friend Judy.
Rescue teams started early Sunday morning, but their search narrowed after a dog sniffed a human scent and sonar equipment detected the submerged car.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department are not suspecting any foul play at this time.
