MARYSVILLE — The body of a man who had been missing after leaving a Marysville bar Saturday was found in a lake nearly a week later.

The Marysville Police Department says River’s Edge Pub called 911 after Eduardo “Eddie” Lopez got heavily intoxicated Saturday night. By the time officers showed up Lopez had already left.

Lopez’s girlfriend called the Marysville Police Department the next day.

The police department later obtained surveillance showing Lopez stumbling toward Ellis Lake. They pinged his phone there earlier this week.

Family searched for Lopez nonstop until police found him Friday. With the help of the sheriff’s office dive team, Lopez was pulled from the lake and identified at the scene.

“We walked the lake so many times and the fact that we didn’t see anything at all… ” said one of Lopez’s siblings, Yuliani Gonzalez.

Officials say he had his phone and wallet on him. They believe he fell into the lake on his walk home and could not get out.

Family members told FOX40 Lopez grew up swimming in the Feather River and would swim from one side to the other. Nevertheless, police say the stones surrounding the lake can be very slippery and it could have been difficult for him to pull himself out.

Lopez’s sister says the next day was his 25th birthday and he was out celebrating.

Lopez has eight siblings, and even more nieces and nephews, who feel like a piece of them is gone. They say he was full of energy and a sweetheart. Moreover, they told FOX40 they do not want people to think he was aggressive.

“We wanna believe it was an accident, but what if it wasn’t? You know?” Gonzalez said.
