ELK GROVE — Investigators are at the scene of a crash in Elk Grove that left a motorcyclist dead.
Around 4:30 p.m., an unidentified motorcyclist hit the center median while riding north on Elk Grove Florin Road near Sheldon Road, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.
The crash threw the 42-year-old man from his motorcycle.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and later died at a local hospital, according to police.
Investigators believe the man was under the influence of alcohol and speeding at the time of the deadly crash.
His identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Police closed off northbound Elk Grove Florin Road between Brecon Drive and Sheldon Road while they investigated the crash.
