ROSEMONT, Calif. (KTXL) — A motorcyclist died Friday morning after crashing into a big rig in Rosemont.

The California Highway Patrol said just before 7 a.m., a Kawasaki motorcycle heading south was lane splitting down South Watt Avenue at around 10 mph.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist somehow crashed into the side of a big rig near Manlove Road. He was ejected onto the roadway right under the big rig and was hit, CHP officials said.

“Our hearts are heavy to report that the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased,” the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District wrote in a tweet.

The motorcyclist has been identified as a 58-year-old man from Cool. His name has not been reported by the CHP.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been reported.

Investigators said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the deadly crash.
