SOUTH SACRAMENTO — South Sacramento residents were on the lookout for a cougar Wednesday night after police received reports of a sighting.

Sacramento police helped Fish and Wildlife officials and Animal Control officers search for the mountain lion in the area of Elder Creek Road and Cougar Drive.

Residents were told to bring their animals inside.

Hours later, Fish and Wildlife officers who combed the area told FOX40 they found no evidence of a large, wild cat. They did not see any signs of stress in the dogs and ducks that were outside during the time of the reported sighting.
