Much-Needed Snow Falls on Sierra

DONNER SUMMIT –

After a winter that delivered a below-average amount of snow to the Sierra, spring begins with a storm that is putting a fresh layer of powder on the slopes.

The Sacramento office of the National Weather Service estimated the storm will deliver up to 10 inches of snow on the highest Sierra peaks before diminishing Wednesday night.

The official start of spring is 4:02 a.m. today Pacific Time.
