MANTECA — Several vehicles and a big rig were involved in a messy crash in Manteca on Monday evening.

The crash happened on eastbound Highway 120 at Main Street. Five vehicles and a big rig were involved in the crash.

The big rig was traveling eastbound behind a line of cars, according to the CHP. The cars traveling in front of the big rig were slowed or stopped. The big rig, travelling at an unknown speed, rammed into the rear of a Chevy pickup truck.

The pickup was pushed into the rear of the Honda Accord in front of it, then pushed over the top of the Honda, flipping.

The Honda then crashed into a Mercedes. The Honda was pushed off to the right shoulder where it caught fire.

The Mercedes was pushed into a Chevy sedan, overturned and then hit a Chevy SUV that also overturned.

The driver of the Honda Accord that caught fire was killed in the crash. The victim’s identity is not known at this time.

Weather was not a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
