STOCKTON–

Emotions ran high in south Stockton where Fidel and Olivia Ruiz and their son Manuel were murdered. Family said they could neither confirm nor deny that the shooting was gang related.

Friends and family described the slain couple as loving, friendly, and family oriented.

“They did not deserve this, they didn’t,” said friend Brisa Martinez.

The couple had 11 children, family said. Their daughter and her boyfriend were also shot, but survived.

While San Joaquin detectives have not released many details, they say two men entered the home and began shooting just before midnight on Friday.

Neighbors believe the shooters went from room to room as the victims slept in their beds.

“I used to drink my coffee everyday with her and now I cannot even eat,” said Martinez.

Family said that Manuel’s 6-year-old son was untouched during the attack. He later ran to a neighbor’s home, screaming his family had been hurt.

The boy was initially taken into protective custody, but family said he is now staying with relatives.
