FOLSOM-
A single brownie allegedly eaten by a freshman student at Folsom High School prompted a school district investigation Thursday and a flurry of questions from parents.
“We’re waiting on test results. At this time, we haven’t been able to verify what might have been in it,” Daniel Thigpen, with Folsom Cordova Unified School District, told FOX40 on Thursday.
The brownie allegedly sent the student to the hospital after her morning math class Wednesday, according to other students. Her parents told school administrators that she got the brownie from another student.
To ease parents, the principal sent out a letter to parents providing a phone number for families with more questions.
“We’re not aware of any other students that have reported falling ill to this incident,” Thigpen told FOX40, adding that officials are investigating whether the brownie was eaten before school or during school hours. “The district will fully work with law enforcement if it turns out that a student brought a [laced] brownie to school.”
