SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says a shooting occurred in the Rosemont community Saturday night.

Police say one person was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The shooting happened on Newhall Drive near Tallyho Drive.

As neighbors were putting up their Christmas decorations they heard the sound of gunfire echo through the neighborhood streets.

“Just multiple bang, bang, bangs, loud, very, very, loud I was very concerned,” resident Dawn Askew said.

One resident said they saw the person knocking on a door in the neighborhood asking for help.

“He had at least four to six gunshot wounds,” the resident said. “I just saw his hair and saw they were holding pressure to some of the gunshot wounds.”

Deputies say paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital for gunshot wounds. The victim’s condition is unknown.

“Especially for the holiday weekend, It is very unsettling,” Askew said. “I hope they’re okay. I hope they survive and I hope they find who did this.”
