Placerville Ranch Fire Leaves Two Dead, Home in Ruins

PLACERVILLE —

Flames surrounded and brought down this Placerville home in the early morning hours just after 5 a.m. Fire fighters say they arrived to find the fire raging, and reports that people may be trapped inside.

Part of the roof collapsed, and then the rest of it followed.

The roughly 2,000 square foot house a total loss. It was part of Asspen Ranch, a well-known breeding facility of mammoth and mini donkeys. That part of the ranch was not damaged.

Although they declined to comment some of those who boarded their donkeys here, said they were very saddened.
