ROCKLIN–

Rocklin High School is a place where students go to learn, but police said that is where a 15-year-old student and “walk-on”  assistant track coach Mark Beven, 21, started a sexual relationship.

“Whenever a trusted adult takes advantage of their position. It is unacceptable and hurts us all,” said Principal David Bills, Rocklin High School.

Police said the relationship started a month ago with sexual text messages.

The relationship then escalated to sexual photos sent by phone between the the victim and Beven.

“We conducted the investigation yesterday talking to the victim and through that developed a probable cause to make the arrest early this morning,” said Sgt. Trent Jewell, Rocklin Police Department.

Beven was arrested at his Auburn home.

He faces a number of felony charges including oral copulation and sexual penetration with a foreign object.

While Beven is being held for only one known relationship, police believe there may be more involved.

“And he was interviewed for the charges and indicating there were other victims and we are currently investigating that right now,” said Sgt. Jewell

Police and staff at Rocklin High School are asking anyone with information to contact the Rocklin Police Department at (916) 625-5400.
