Police Investigate Triple Shooting in Fairfield

Three people are recovering from gunshot wounds after a shooting in Fairfield on Friday night.

The Fairfield Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on the Clay Bank Road near Tabor Avenue just before 10:26 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found two victims in an apartment complex suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. The two victims were identified as as 23-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both from Fairfield.

While officers were providing aid, a third victim from the shooting arrived at an area hospital also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. The victim was identified as a 23-year-old man from Fairfield.

Police are still investigating the shooting.

According to the victims and witnesses, three black men went to the front door of the apartment and started shooting inside, police said. The suspects then fled on foot.

The victims said they did not know the suspects and did not know why they were shot.

The victims are expected to survive.

The apartment was searched and officers found a firearm, ammunition and a small amount of marijuana, police said.
