SACRAMENTO COUNTY -- A violent night in Sacramento left two men dead and one in the hospital.

Sacramento police have launched two separate homicide investigations across town.

“There was a group of guys arguing and fighting. I don’t know, they were pretty drunk,” said a neighbor.

The neighbor, who asked FOX40 to protect her identity, said she first heard yelling outside of her home on Belleview Avenue and Kari Ann Circle in Sacramento around 10:15 p.m.

“Out of nowhere, we hear two gunshots. It was bad,” she told FOX40. “We were scared. Everyone was scared.”

She ran outside to try to help a wounded man while her sister called police.

“(An officer) tried to help him out as fast as he could but at that point, it was probably already too late,” she explained.

The man died in the hospital.

Less than an hour later, as police canvassed the scene and gathered evidence, another phone call came in from North Sacramento. Two men had been shot near Calvados Avenue and Beaumont Street just before 11:20 p.m.

“They located an individual with multiple gunshot wounds and then while during the investigation, they came across a second victim who had a single gunshot wound,” said Sacramento Police Officer Marcus Basquez.

The man who had been shot multiple times died in the hospital while the other man is expected to recover.

“It’s a shock and a surprise to our community to have two homicide investigations going on from one single night,” Basquez said.

Police, however, do not believe these killings are related.

Right now, investigators say they do not have any suspect descriptions or motives to release. They’re hoping witnesses will come forward with more information.

“We do ask for our community’s help in both investigations,” Officer Basquez said.

The identities of the two victims who were killed will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once their next of kin have been notified.

If you have any information about either of these crimes, please call the Sacramento Police Department.
