SACRAMENTO —

The Sacramento Bee has released recordings of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson’s phone conversation with the teen who accused him of molestation almost 20 years ago.

The 39 minute recording was released to the Bee by Phoenix police.

Portions of the recording referring to sex acts are redacted in the file.

In the recording, Mandi Koba confronts Johnson with molestation accusations, which Johnson repeatedly denied.

Johnson was never charged.

He announced last month he would not run for Sacramento mayor for a third term after the story resurfaced in national media.

The mayor’s office told the Bee the facts remain the same today as they did 20 years ago and no audio recording from 20 years ago will change that.
