Fairfield police say a pedestrian has died after he was hit by a vehicle on North Texas Street around 6:25 a.m. Friday.

According to police, the unidentified pedestrian sustained major injuries in the crash and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver stayed at the scene. Investigators say there is no evidence the driver was impaired or speeding at the time of the crash.

North Texas Street has reopened in both directions.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KTXL) — Police have shut down a portion of North Texas Street in Fairfield after a major crash.

The Fairfield Police Department said Friday morning its investigation into the crash on North Texas Street at East Pacific Avenue will likely last for several hours.

Few details were provided by police about the crash, but at least one person was injured.

The investigation is being held between East Pacific and Alaska avenues and drivers have been told to avoid the area.
