Police: Woman Shot after Refusing to Give Up Purse

STOCKTON-

A woman was shot by one of two suspects who were attempting to steal her purse in a Costco parking lot, police say.

According to the Stockton Police Department, two men tried to steal a purse from a woman in her 50's. The woman held onto the purse, and then one of the suspects shot her.

The men ran after the shooting, and the woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she is in stable condition. The bullet wound is not considered to be life threatening.

Police have released a suspect description of the alleged shooter, saying the armed man was a black, light skinned man, standing 5'9" with a mustache and curly hair, and looks in his 30's. The suspect's vehicle is described as a 2 door silver Toyota from around 2006. The suspect drove off north on Montauban, wearing a button up long sleeve shirt and jeans.
