“Rainbow” Around Sun Draws Attention

A “rainbow” around the sun seemed to have gotten everyone’s attention Tuesday afternoon throughout the Sacramento Valley.

Apparently, the sight is caused by light reflecting through ice crystals inside high, thin cirrus clouds tens of thousands of feet above our heads.

But no, it’s not Galactus or anything like that.
