PLUMAS COUNTY—

Authorities say they believe they’ve found the remains of a 68-year-old man who has been missing since May.

Plumas County authorities were alerted by Caltrans workers around 9 a.m. Tuesday of a car that was found over an embankment off of Highway 70, about three miles east of Scooters Café in Butte County.

The car found was a 1969 Mercury Cougar. Authorities say that this is Clifford Wade’s car – a man that went missing on a way to a doctor’s appointment back on May 1.

Caltrans workers happened upon the car while dealing with a different traffic accident in the same area. It was found about 30 yards over an embankment, in an area thickly covered with trees and brush.

Later, Butte County search and rescue teams found human remains near the car. Although the coroner’s office hasn’t finished their report, authorities believe – due to the circumstances – that the remains are that of Wade.

Wade was from Meadow Valley in Butte County.
