GROVELAND–

Hundreds of cattle have been lost to the Rim Fire burning near Yosemite.

FOX40 spoke with one rancher Tuesday night who asked that we not use his name. He said he lost at least 100 cows, plus 500 acres of grazing land and a historic cabin outside of Groveland.

He has, however, been able to rescue 130 adult cows and 125 yearlings from the burned out ranch, though he had to put some down because of burned feet, he told FOX40.

The rancher is upset by what he calls mismanagement of forest lands. He ads his voice to those who believe the Rim Fire would never have been so devastating if policy had allowed thinning out of the forest.
