ROCKLIN– Dominic Navarro had a suspicion.

“I saw the lady with the PG&E logo, so I thought, ‘Maybe,'” Navarro said with a smile.

At 9:30 Friday morning the media and a woman with a very large cardboard check walked into Navarro’s classroom.

Seconds later, the real reason why the room was twice as crowded was revealed as Navarro’s name was announced as the winner of PG&E’s $20,000 a year for up to five years scholarship via the utility company’s “Better Together” program.

“This is awesome. I’m so happy,” Navarro said.

Navarro had applied months ago during the application process and said he’d been waiting to hear back for a while.

Now, he knows.

Navarro plans to study engineering at UCLA.
