ROSEVILLE–
A 35-year-old Roseville man is dead after an officer involved shooting on Tanglewood Lane Saturday night.
Police were called near Sierra Gardens and Loretto Drives after a report of a domestic disturbance, according to a release. Apparently, a reportedly “very intoxicated” man armed with a baseball bat had pushed a woman.
Once officers arrived, the suspect ran from the area. Officers caught up to him on Tanglewood Lane a few blocks away and tried to take him into custody, but the suspect resisted.
A physical altercation ensued, according to the release, and one of the responding officers shot the suspect, fearing for his fellow officer’s safety.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until his family has been notified.
Both officers were placed on paid administrative leave, per department protocol. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
