ROSEVILLE, Calif. (KTXL) — Roseville police are searching for a person who shot and killed someone at a hotel near Top Golf Friday morning.
According to police, the shooting happened just before 8 a.m. outside the Home2 Suites by Hilton near Blue Oaks Boulevard and Highway 65.
“Well, no one wanted to tell me anything in there. Like, the people that work here they didn’t say anything,” said hotel guest Lisa Spencer.
Guests at the hotel were shocked to see police cars and crime scene tape as they emerged from their rooms.
“Yeah, I didn’t expect for someone to be shot and killed. That’s kind of crazy,” Spencer told FOX40.
Police haven’t said if the person was shot inside or outside of the hotel.
“At this time, it’s unknown if the victim or the suspect were actually residents or customers of the hotel, but that is all a part of the ongoing investigation,” police spokesman Rob Baquera said.
There currently no description of the shooter or a released motive but officers believe they do have surveillance video.
“As you can see there is an extremely robust camera system not even just at this hotel but at several of the surrounding businesses,” Baquera said.
Meanwhile, neighbors say the hotel is brand new, having opened within the last year.
“Little to no crime rate, what-so-ever,” said resident Gary Reed. “Been living here for about 12 years, never seen anything like this.”
Police say the Friday morning killing is the third homicide investigation in Roseville this year.
“It is a very, very uncommon thing to happen in the city of Roseville so we will allocate the resources to find the suspect and ultimately determine what happened here,” Baquera said.
FOX40 did speak with some employees of nearby stores but they all said they didn’t hear gunshots.
