SACRAMENTO —
Sacramento Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting which took place Friday evening after responding to a domestic disturbance call.
When officers arrived to the home on 61st Street near T Street, they encountered a woman outside of the residence.
According to police, her boyfriend was hiding inside of the home and refused to cooperate with police.
While interacting with the police, the 42-year-old suspect then pointed a gun at an officer.
Fearing for his safety, and the safety of his partner, that officer then pulled out his weapon and shot the suspect as he was going out of the front door of the house.
After the suspect got outside of the home, he surrendered to officers. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect’s gun was later examined by detectives, and they discovered the gun was a black semi-automatic BB gun. According to investigators, the BB gun was “visually indistinguishable” from a real gun.
This incident remains under investigation.
The officers involved in this shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.
