RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (KTXL) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were involved in a shooting Saturday night in Rancho Cordova.

According to the sheriff’s office, authorities received a call from a woman saying her grandson, whom she has a restraining order against, was at her home with a gun.

Deputies say they arrived at the home on Dutchess Way around 7 p.m. and saw the suspect outside of the home. When they tried to approach him, he ran away.

Sheriff Scott Jones says that at some point during the chase shots were fired and a deputy was shot at least twice. The deputy was in critical but stable condition Sunday morning following surgery, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect died at the scene after being shot by deputies, according to Jones.

Jones says a woman at the scene was also shot by the suspect but she died at the scene.
