A female inmate at the Sacramento County Main Jail died Sunday morning after being found unconscious in her cell, officials said.
The 48-year-old woman was found unresponsive around 8 a.m. during the pill call rounds, Deputy Tony Turnbull said in a news release. Medical personnel immediately responded and attempted life saving measures.
She was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Officials said there were no signs of trauma and foul play is not suspected.
The inmate, whose identity has not been released, was in custody since May 22, 2014 on charges of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and elder abuse charges.
