Update: Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Dwayne Franklin. Franklin was accused of attacking a woman in the area of 17th Avenue and 77th Street then hiding from officers. He faces charges for battery and violating his parole.

SOUTH SACRAMENTO — A suspect involved in a felony assault in was taken into custody Tuesday night after police believe he was barricaded inside a home.
A SWAT team and crisis negotiators reportedly responded to a standoff at a home on 17th Avenue near 73rd Street.
The Sacramento Police Department says they believed they were dealing with an armed parolee at large who had been involved a felony assault on a woman in the area of 17th Avenue and 77th Street.
At least six people were asked to leave the home just after 1 p.m.
Karl Chan, a spokesman for the police department, reports hours later, the suspect was found walking in the area and apprehended. He did not have a weapon.
