STOCKTON, Calif. (KTXL) — The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said a man suspected of killing his wife was taken into custody in Nebraska Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said Sergio Torres Munguia was arrested in Sidney, Nebraska after running a stop sign Thursday night.
A records check was performed by the Sidney Police Department and it showed the arrest warrant from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies said.
Torres allegedly shot his wife Sonia Suarez on Munford Avenue between Mariposa and Frontage roads in Stockton on June 4. Suarez was taken to a hospital, but she died from her injuries.
Torres is currently in custody in Nebraska and is waiting for extradition to San Joaquin County Jail.
