SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. (KTXL) — Authorities in San Joaquin County are investigating a deadly shooting involving a Stockton police officer.

On Tuesday just after 2 p.m., the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said a Stockton police officer shot someone in the area of South Roberts and Rolerson roads, just outside of Weston Ranch.

According to the sheriff’s office, the person who was shot was taken to a local hospital where they died.

The officer did not suffer major injuries.

It’s unclear exactly what led up to the shooting.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, Stockton Police Department, San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, California Department of Justice, and the medical examiner’s office are all part of this investigation.

The scene was cleared and all roads have been reopened.
