A family is grasping at straws, turning over every stone in Sacramento County, looking for 20-year-old Ruben Rivera, who was last seen Dec. 22.

His family knows he was last seen near Stoneman Drive and Don Julio Boulevard, where of his closest family and friends gathered with a specific plan Sunday: find Ruben’s car.

“There is a lot of land, a lot of planes, a lot of ditches — places where the truck could have been, and that was one of our focuses,” said Raquel Rivera.

They also searched near the American River — a place Ruben was known to love.

“Our family spends a lot of time at rivers [and] lakes camping, things like that. So we believe that if we searched most common places to us to him, more than anything we’d be able to find something,” said Mayra Rivera.

In the end, no clues were found Sunday. The family is now relying on the posters they have plastered all over the area.

“We have been putting it on Facebook [and] Instagram. Now [we’re] putting out flyers, anything that gets his face out there and gets people on the look out for him,” said Janet Rivera.

The family hasn’t given up hope, but right now they don’t know what else to do. If you have seen Ruben Rivera or his truck (a white, 1992 Toyota) the family begs you to call the Sacramento Sheriff’s Office.
