MODESTO, Calif. (KTXL) — Two people are dead after a shooting investigation lead to a stand-off with police in Modesto on Sunday afternoon.
The Modeto Police Department said the shooting happened after 2 p.m. on Debbie Lane following a dispute between neighbors.
Responding officers found a man with a gunshot wound who was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police said the suspect in the shooting went to his home which officers then surrounded.
Police said that crisis negotiation teams and a SWAT team communicated with the suspect for nine hours before the suspect shot himself around 11:30 p.m. The suspect was taken to the hospital but also died from his injuries.
According to police, a woman and two children who were also in the home during the standoff were not harmed.
