A student at an Orangevale middle school has been arrested for allegedly making a shooting threat on campus.

The unidentified student at Louis Pasteur Middle School was arrested by sheriff’s deputies Wednesday night after making the alleged threats earlier in the day.

School administrators say they were tipped off by students who overheard a conversation regarding the shooting comments. Investigators are trying to figure out if it was just a joke or a credible threat.

The student is being charged with making a criminal threat and is in custody at the juvenile detention center of Sacramento County.

School resumed as normal Thursday morning. Parents were notified of the threats via emails and phone calls.

The school and Sheriff’s Department say there are no further threats to the school this time.
