Sacramento Police released information about a sexual assault arrest Monday as they believe more victims could come forward.

Jesus Tonkin, 39, a nurse at Sutter Medical Center, was arrested on sexual battery charges in August of 2015. The arrest stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred in September of 2014.

The 30-year-old victim, a patient and disabled woman, checked in to the hospital in 2014, complaining of pain in her side.

She told police she asked her nurse, Tonkin, to change her IV and provide fresh sheets.

In the police report obtained by FOX40, the victim says Tonkin, who has been with Sutter Medical Center since 2008, took some lotion, rubbed her stomach and breasts underneath her hospital gown, before touching her private area.

FOX40 knocked on Tonkin’s door Monday, no one answered.

Gary Zavoral, a spokesperson from Sutter Medical Center Sacramento told FOX40 Monday that Tonkin’s background check was clean when he was hired in 2008.
However, FOX40 has learned that he was previously accused of touching a 9-year-old girl’s breasts in the state of Oregon. Charges were never filed, due to lacking evidence.

In a statement released Monday, Zavoral said, “At Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento, our No. 1 priority is patient safety. We are taking the allegation very seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. Because the legal process is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Tonkin is facing sexual battery charges and has been on administrative leave since the investigation began last year.
