Sutterville Elementary Kids Raise Big Money to Help Homeless

SACRAMENTO-

Sutterville Elementary Students have raised close to $12,000 to help the homeless.

It started out as an activity to teach 5th and 6th graders how to write business letters and turned into a worthy charity lesson.

About 200 5th and 6th graders wrote letters to local businesses asking for $100 to help their cause. The initial goal was to reach out raise $2,000 but the community responded with an outpouring.

The final total was over $11,800. The students recently presented the big check to Family Promise Sacramento, which helps local homeless families get back on their feet.
