FAIRFIELD-
A four-alarm fire broke out on along Grande Circle in Fairfield, Saturday evening.
There were no injuries to report.
Fairfield Fire Battalion Chief John Sturdee said the exact cause of the fire is unknown at this moment. The fire began in a downstairs unit, spread through the heating duct to two other units upstairs.
Before firefighters arrived on scene, 15-year-old neighbor, Latrell McCockran, saw the fire, grabbed a fire extinguisher to break through the window of the unit on fire, then carried a disabled man out of the burning apartment.
Without thinking of his own safety, the teen quickly went into action.
“Helping the elderly. that’s what you gotta do,” said McCockran.
His mother, Latisha McCockran, said she’s very proud of her son.
